Darrin Ledford
Darrin Ledford announced he has picked up papers to run for the District 4 seat on the Chattanooga City Council, a position that is expected to be an open seat with District 4 City Councilman Larry Grohn announcing his intentions to run for Chattanooga mayor.
Upon picking up papers this morning at the Hamilton County Election Commission, Mr. Ledford released the following statement:
“I love Chattanooga and proud to call this incredible city my home. As a father, business owner and community leader, I am also concerned about the future of our community. Yes, Chattanooga has been blessed with many accolades and awards for its renaissance and transformation into one of the "Best Towns" in America. Yet, our city still has some serious issues to address in the coming years, many of which cannot be resolved without leadership, vision and resolve from our elected leaders.
"After a lot of prayers and many discussions with my family, friends and colleagues, I have decided to pick up papers today and run to be the next District 4 representative on the Chattanooga City Council.
"I believe District 4 needs a strong, passionate voice that will bring real-world, business convictions to the City Council and advocate for reasonable solutions to the issues we all care about in our community. It's time to refocus our efforts and identify ways to improve the quality of streets, reduce crime and gang violence in our neighborhoods, and support better economic growth within our city so we can hold the line on property taxes.
"In the coming weeks, I plan to make a formal announcement on my campaign and outline my vision on how we can work together to move Chattanooga forward and make city government better for everyone.”
The city of Chattanooga election is scheduled for March 7, 2017.
