A host of candidates showed up at the Election Office on Friday - the first day to pick up qualifying papers for the city election next March.
Chris Long of Jenkins Road picked up for mayor. Current Mayor Andy Berke and City Councilman Larry Grohn announced earlier.
All City Council incumbents except Mr. Grohn are expected to run for re-election.
Susan Miller of Cummings Cove and Jay Nevans of Stringers Ridge Road picked up for City Council District 1. Chip Henderson is the incumbent.
Darrin Ledford picked up for District 4, the post currently held by Mr. Grohn.
Incumbent Carol Berz announced earlier that she will run again in District 6.
Erskine Oglesby Jr. of Tennessee Avenue requested papers for District 7. That seat is held by Chris Anderson. Mr. Anderson has begun ramping up his campaign.
Moses Freeman Jr., the City Council chairman, picked up papers for another run in District 8.
Pat Benson Jr., of N. Crest Road, and Shelby Patton, of Martin Street, picked up for District 9. Yusuf Hakeem is the incumbent.
