Ruby Clement
Ruby Schrivner Clement, 85, formerly of Soddy Daisy, died on Friday morning, September 16, 2016.
She was born February 19, 1931 to William Arthur and Eula Brazelton Schrivner.
A wonderful childcare provider and mother, Ruby devoted most of her life to caring for children. She selflessly gave of her time in her church and community nurturing children from birth to teenage years.
Ruby had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church for over thirty years. In those years she was the nursery director, on various committees, and accompanied the youth on trips. Ruby was also an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She also was a member of First Baptist Church of South Pittsburg in her later years.
Ruby was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Dewey Milan Clement, Jr. She is also preceded by one brother, Jim Schrivner and three sisters, Jean Schrivner, Annie Templeton, and Ruth Shea.
She is survived by one sister, Nell Duncan of Knoxville and two sons Jim (Carolyn) Clement of Chattanooga, Dwight Clement of South Pittsburg, and two daughters Patricia Harris of Scottsboro and Donna (Mike) Killian of South Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Sept. 19, from 4-5 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel on Highway 153 in Hixson. A service will follow in the chapel with the Reverend Charles Campbell officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
