Tanner Works
Nabbing his first career United Crate Racing Alliiance victory, fifth-starting Tanner Works of Cleveland, Tn., crossed the finish line 0.94 seconds ahead of runner-up Jake Teague at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater on Friday night.
The race was slowed by six caution flags; three of those came on lap 19. Fellow Cleveland native John Ownbey and Cory Hedgecock of Tellico Plains swapped the lead lap after lap in traffic before the lap 19 caution. On the restart, Works took the lead using the outside line to pass from his third-place slot. He kept the lead the rest of the way in the 40-lap affair, turning back consistent pressure and pocketing the $2,500 winner's check.
Works # T35 "D&K Auto Repair, Superior Transmission and Old Man's Garage" sponsored CVR Racecar previously won the Crate Late Model feature at Fort Payne Motor Speedway and finished second in UCRA competition.
Works was the Fast-Time Award winner with a 13.666 seconds. Heat race winners: Ownbey, Hedgecock and Knoxville racers Josh Henry and Philip Thompson.
Works would finish 3rd the next night at Maryville's Smoky Mountain Speedway to Friday's runner up Jake Teague and William Thomas.
