FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Coming off a 3-0 week, two Covenant women's soccer players earned USA South weekly honors, announced the conference on Monday afternoon. Freshman Lizzy Hightower was named USA South Rookie of the Week, while sophomore Rachel Lemay was the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
The honor for Hightower is the first of her career and it is Lemay's second Defensive Player of the Week honor in her career.
Hightower, a freshman from Huntsville, Ala., tallied two goals and one assist on the week for Covenant.
She had the assist on Abby Gienapp's eventual game-winner in the first half of the Lady Scots' 1-0 win at Birmingham Southern last Tuesday. Hightower then accounted for both goals, the first two of her career, in Covenant's 2-1 win over Piedmont
on Friday. Hightower then helped the Lady Scots to a 1-0 shutout over Salem
on Saturday.
Hightower's five-point performance on the week has her tied for the team lead with two goals on the year to go along with one assist.
Lemay, a sophomore from Apopka, Fla., allowed just one goal
in 270 minutes at the net during the week and made 14 saves. She had three saves in the 1-0 win at Birmingham Southern
