CLARKESVILLE, Ga. -- Marshall Kent fired a career-best 70 and sits just one shot off the lead and the Covenant men's golf team is in a tie for fourth place overall at the end of round one of the Piedmont Fall Invitational at The Orchard Golf & Country Club.
As a team, Covenant shot a 310 in the opening round and sits in a tie for fourth in the eight-team field with Truett-McConnell. Sewanee leads the event with a 294 team score. Bob Jones and host Piedmont are in a tie for second after both teams scored a 308.
Kent finished his round at 2-under par and is one stroke behind the clubhouse leader, Tommy Oliver of Sewanee, and sits in second place by himself. Tuesday's final round. Alan Craig shot a 79 on Monday, while Will Reid carded an 84 to round out the top four Covenant golfers. Will Mayfield finished the first round with an 86.
