Police have charged Alexander Garcia, 29, with beating the family dog with a crowbar and threatening his mother.

He was charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to animals after the mother called police.

In the incident on Tuesday morning on Crescent Circle, the mother said the threat to her came after she tried to intervene in behalf of the dog.

She said she wanted to prosecute her son.

Garcia was charged in 2014 with aggravated cruelty to animals, but was acquitted of the charge.
