Deputy Corey Loftis of the Bradley County Sheriff's Office, will deliver a basketball goal, donated by the Basketball Cop Foundation, to an autistic boy named “Bubba” on Friday.
Last month, Dep. Loftis responded to “Bubba’s” residence because the boy was severely agitated. “Bubba’s” mother, Christy Richardson, was amazed that Dep. Loftis was able to have positive interaction with her son, and captured a photo of “Bubba” laughing while doing push-ups with Dep. Loftis. During their interaction, Dep.
Loftis showed “Bubba” how to channel his frustration by simply doing push-ups.
The Bradley County Sheriff's Office posted about the event on their Facebook page. Bobby White, who is the founder of Basketball Cop Foundation, discovered the agency’s Facebook post when it went viral nationwide. The post publicized the deputy’s interaction and incorporated the picture taken by “Bubba’s” mother.
"The Basketball Cop Foundation donates basketball goals to police departments nationwide to help promote the positive interactions with police and the community, especially children. This foundation has received support from former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal and other celebrities since the foundation’s creation," officials said.
