Invite To Those Concerned About Our Fracturing Society

  • Wednesday, September 21, 2016

I have been concerned with the divisions in our society in the last few years. I have pondered the attacks and counterattacks as we have witnessed groups in Nevada and Oregon who claim government land as their own, while others believe the land belongs to all of us and recently during the 2016 presidential campaigns. I have also wondered how we can try to bring people, especially Christians, together so that we can show the rest of America God’s love and our love for our fellow residents. We also see chasms between those who want to show love to those in need and those who fear people who come to our shores for safety.

I am going to open my home for the first discussion on Thursday evening, Sept. 29, from 7-8:30. We will open the discussion with each person attending telling the others their perceptions of the divisions in America. We will then discuss the issues involved and hear people offer their ideas about possible solutions. These discussion will continue each Thursday until the election and possibly beyond if some wish to do so. At the end of the session, we will have a time for prayer or mediation about these problems and the people affected.

I live in East Brainerd off of Morris Hill Road at 2116 Colonial Parkway Dr. Morris Hill Road goes from the was end of Shallowford Road (Shallowford curves to the right and becomes Morris Hill) to East Brainerd Road at intersection with Publix store and Christ United Methodist Church on each side of East Brainerd Road.

This group is open to all area residents of any denomination or religion as well as those who are not religious. We hope to have a good discussion and hopefully will find ways to pull us together.
