Wilcox Tunnel Career Fair Offered On Monday

  • Thursday, September 22, 2016
The public is invited to attend the Wilcox Boulevard Tunnel Neighborhood Association’s inaugural Career Fair on Monday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., to meet area employers and connect with businesses and organizations supporting Chattanooga neighborhoods and local workers.

The fair will be at the Eastdale Youth & Family Development Center, 1314 Moss St., Chattanooga, TN 37411.

Formed earlier this year to increase communication and the economic outlook for Chattanoogans living near the Wilcox Tunnel, the new neighborhood association is hosting its first career fair to connect local job-seekers directly with potential employers.

“The guests will experience a large array of businesses as well as business owners.

We’re hoping that people in the community will walk away with new career opportunities,” said Tia Clark, who is a local business owner and organized Monday’s career fair.

The Wilcox Boulevard Tunnel Neighborhood Association plans to host more events in the future to engage people living in communities around the tunnel to enhance quality of life and increase access to jobs. To ensure economic opportunities for everyone, the Career Fair will include businesses that are willing to hire job candidates who may have a criminal past. Anyone looking for a job is encouraged to attend Monday’s fair.

“We are super excited to see this event finally come together. This Career Fair is one of many. We are hoping to bring more jobs and income to the community in which we are in and to the other communities around us,” said Ms. Clark.

Area businesses and organizations participating in the career fair include:

 Department of Labor

 UTC

 Aerotek/Volkswagen

 Zaxby’s

 Urban League

 Chamber of Commerce

 Coca-Cola

 HERMAN’s

 Durham School Services
