Genesis And Gender Lecture Is Monday

  • Thursday, September 22, 2016

Genesis and Gender: Milton’s Adam & Eve and the Birth of Modern Marriage, a free lecture, will be given Monday from 1-2 p.m in the UC Auditorium.

The lecture will be by Dr. Steve Fallon and the Rev. John J. Cavanaugh, CSC, Professor of the Humanities in the Program of Liberal Studies at Notre Dame.

The subject will be Milton’s Paradise Lost (1667).  Officials said this is language’s greatest epic, offering both a sweeping vista of all space and time and an intimate portrait of marriage.

This lecture explores the complex, prescient thinking on gender and marriage by a writer who has been attacked as a misogynist and celebrated as a proto-feminist.
