Weather Going EPB's Way After Years Of Major Swings Of Highs and Lows

  • Friday, September 23, 2016

The weather this year is finally going EPB's way after years of major swings of highs and lows.

Greg Eaves, chief financial officer, said the steady diet of warm days has put EPB $11 million ahead of budget for the year to date.

He said, "Last year, the weather did not cooperate. Now we have been at the top of the range on degrees so we have sold a lot more kilowatts."

The fiberoptic side continues to do well with $23.5 million in income and $8.6 million in expenses year to date.

The remaining debt is $18.4 million and that is set to be paid off by this time next year.

EPB has paid down the fiberoptic debt by $17 million in the past year.
