Camilla Nance
Camilla Josephine “Sugarbabe” Jones Nance, 76, died on September 18, 2016 at her residence.
She was born in Chattanooga in 1940. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church under Pastor Penny. Later she started attending Olivet Baptist Church. Camilla is a graduate of Howard High School.
She was an owner and operated of Annie Mae’s Place on MLK Blvd. She was well known in the community for feeding and boarding those who needed help.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Nance; parents, Ruben and Annie Mae Jones; grandparents, Tom and Mary Garner; sister, Annie Elizabeth Morgan.
She is survived by her beloved pets Sheba, Yogi and Max; children Cheryl Ann (Gary) Davis, Kevin L. Nance and Deborah Halfacre; three grandchildren, Montrell Turnbow Allen, Sharika (Quintell) Wilson and Keedra L Nance Kelley; great-grandchildren, K'yannah Wilson and Quintell Wilson, Jr., De Kiereal Kelley and De’ Kiereun Kelley; sisters, Lee Anna Porter, Boston, MA; Flora Taylor, Carson, CA; Ruby Gibbs and brother-in-law, Thomas A. Gibbs, both of Chattanooga; Michael and Fletcher both of Chattanooga, host of nieces, nephews, cousins; dearest friends, Victor Novine, Debra Hambright, Doris Cole, Ruth Odum and family, others included Janice and Shine Dr. Eula and Rudy Cohen; best friends, Carolyn Bailey; Joyce Watson; Alma Gardner; Diane and Jim Templeton.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, in the chapel. Interment will be in Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on day of service beginning at 9 a.m. until time of service.
