Saunders, Barclay And Butler Play At Charles And Myrtle's Saturday

  • Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Three local singers and songwriters, Megan Saunders, Katrina Barclay and Fritsl Butler, will perform at Charles and Myrtle's Coffeehouse on Saturday at 8 p.m. The coffeehouse is inside Christ Unity Church at 105 McBrien Road. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

Review for the performers:

On the heels of a tour through North Caroline, Katrina Barclay and Megan Saunders will be joined by Fritsl Butler for an evening filled with lyrical storytelling.

The music of Megan Saunders has been described as “…evocative enough to enchant and warm and soft enough to cling to like a faded quilt fresh off a windblown line.” She is known for songs that build a sense of story and place, and a sound that ranges from playful to luminous to haunting.

Incorporating alternative, blues, and indie influences, Katrina Barclay's music is dynamic and her lyrics are honest and open. She's known by her ability to captivate an audience and invite them to face whatever emotion she evokes in them. Her music has just enough roughness around the edges to remind you it's real, and it will take you to a place you didn't know you wanted to go.

Butler’s writing is also characterized by indie and blue influences, as well as by contemporary and classic Americana writers.

All three can be found at local venues such as the Flying Squirrel, Barking Legs Theater, The Chickstock Festival, Whole Foods’ Bluegrass Night as well as a variety of private events. For the first time on Saturday night, they will join forces to present an intimate, unforgettable evening. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
