Darrell Moore, president and CEO of Parkridge Health System, will retire in December after a 40-year health care career. Mr. Moore has served the last decade of his career in this role at Parkridge, an HCA facility.

“I’m grateful that I am able to retire after a rewarding career committed to providing the best patient care through a compassionate, professional and friendly environment,” said Mr. Moore. “I couldn’t have asked for a more challenging and rewarding position for the last ten years of my career.”

Under Mr. Moore’s leadership, Parkridge expanded to five facilities—Parkridge Medical Center, Parkridge West Hospital, Parkridge East Hospital, Parkridge Valley Adult & Senior Campus and Parkridge Valley Child & Adolescent Campus.

Parkridge Health System received numerous service and quality accolades during Mr. Moore’s tenure, including Accredited Chest Pain Center (Parkridge and Parkridge East); Blue Distinction Center in the Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care program, part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program; American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award and Atrial Fibrillation Bronze Quality Achievement Award; and accreditation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Mr. Moore also oversaw $62 million in major expansion projects, including phase one of the Parkridge Master Facility Plan, a new laboratory, operating room additions and renovations, and a new post-anesthesia care unit. In addition, Moore helped develop the next generation of hospital leadership by mentoring many young professionals in HCA’s executive development program.

“Darrell made a lasting impact on healthcare services available to the Chattanooga community by expanding access to quality care, fostering collaboration in the community and developing future healthcare leaders,” said Steve Corbeil, president of HCA’s TriStar Division, which includes Parkridge Health. “We are proud of Darrell’s accomplishments and wish him the best as he retires.”

"Under Darrell’s leadership, the medical staff at Parkridge has seen tremendous growth with expanded specialties. “Darrell’s top priority has always been the patient and quality care,” said Naveed Memon, MD, chief of staff. “As a physician and chief of the medical staff, we could not have asked for a better leader and partner.”

Mr. Moore has also been actively engaged in a variety of community service boards and committees, including the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus.

“Darrell’s guiding principal of instilling a culture of compassionate, professional and excellent healthcare delivery may seem simple but requires the skill to navigate the many demands of the hospital while building great rapport with physicians and staff at all levels,” said Sandra Brewer, chair of the Parkridge Board of Trustees. “His extraordinary leadership has continued the Parkridge mission of being committed to the care and improvement of human life.”

Before becoming CEO of Parkridge Health System in 2006, Mr. Moore previously served as CEO of several HCA hospitals in the Kansas City area, including Research Medical Center, Baptist Medical Center, Trinity Lutheran Hospital and Centerpoint Medical Center (formerly Independence Regional Medical Center).

A national search is underway for Mr. Moore’s successor.

Mr. Moore and his wife plan to remain in the Chattanooga area.
