William A. “Runt” Goforth, 95, of Jasper, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016.
He was a retiree of Crane Enamel Company, of Chattanooga, and was of the Baptist Faith. Bill was a World War II veteran, having served the Army in Europe. He served in Italy and Africa, participating in the Sicilian Naples-Foggia and Roman-Arno Campaigns. Bill received the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Jessie Tate Goforth; brothers, Vadell, Joe, John and Paul Goforth; and sisters, Katherine Brown and Shirley Goins.
Bill is survived by his sisters, Ella Mae Rogers of Jasper, TN and Bettye Cagle, of Lookout Valley; his brother, Stanley Goforth, of Jasper, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Bridge at South Pittsburg, and Parkridge hospital for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, and on Thursday, September 29, from 9:00 am CDT until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel, Thursday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. CDT, with Bro. Roger Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. Full military honors will be provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
