Lee University U-Church will welcome Planetshakers as the next guest in its fall series on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.

Following the trend of modern worship bands, Planetshakers features a large group of vocalists that lead worship at their church when not doing annual tours to the United States, Europe, New Zealand, and other locations. Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Russell and Sam Evans, the band is based at Planetshakers Church in Melbourne, Australia.

The band’s vison is to witness generations worldwide come together to praise God. They desire to see true encounters with God that lead to lasting changes and global impacts, said officials.

“From the beginning, the idea of a movement was never in our vision,” said Sam Evans, lead singer and co-pastor of Planetshakers Church. “We were just being obedient to God every step of the way. God's just using us to remind the Church of the joy and celebration and passion He desires. There is such great power in our praise.”

Planetshakers has produced multiple albums over the past 15 years. The band was nominated in 2015 for a Dove award and has headlined multiple conferences, festivals, and events like National Worship Leader Conference, Rock the Universe, and Big Church Day Out.

Planetshakers Church began as a youth conference in 1997 and grew to 25,000 people in attendance across Australia. In response to the popularity of the conference, the church was launched in 2004 in Melbourne and now has a congregation of 12,000 people.
