Morning Pointe, SAU Students Connect With History

  • Friday, September 30, 2016
In honor of National Assisted Living Week, The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence, Collegedale hosted Southern Adventist University's History Club for lunch and a look in the past.

Residents showed off photographs to the students, revisiting pastimes and former careers together. The students brought their curiosities and left with inspiration as the seniors shared stories of their life journeys.

"Meeting and listening gave me a sense of how valuable time is," said Kyle Harris, SAU History Club president.
"The people had all gone through so much time and I was in awe of the changes in this world they had seen."

As part of the Meaningful Day program, the memory care community embraces intergenerational activities, inviting youth and young adults to spend quality time with the residents.
