Thompson, Veva Jewel Jordan (Cleveland)

Veva Jewel Jordan Thompson, 92, of Cleveland, Tenenssee, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Brevard, NC.  

She was a receptionist for the late Dr Cecil Stanbery D.D.S. for many years.  Veva was a member of First United Methodist Church for 53 years and taught Sunday School for 45 years.  She was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed by all.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. G. “Tommy” Thompson; and her son, Jesse Maxwell “Max” Thompson.  

Survivors include her son, Rodney Thompson and wife, Linda of Cleveland; daughter, Candace Thompson of Brevard, NC; five grandchildren, Carol (Robert) Davis of Denver, NC, Rodney Heath (Michelle) Thompson and Shane Thompson, all of Cleveland, Jesse Michael (Paige) Thompson of Parkersburg, WV and Jason (Sarah) Thompson of Charleston, SC; ten great-grandchildren, Madison Davis, Robert Davis, Kensington Davis, David Davis, Hayden Thompson, Brianne Thompson, Logan Thompson, Cameron Thompson, Kerington Thompson and Olivia Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Tim Bracken officiating.  A private interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and invited friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Heath Thompson, Jesse Michael Thompson, Shane Thompson and Jason Thompson, great grandson, Robert Davis and friend, Roger Carley. 

Her family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
