Sara Lee Dickens, 93, of Fort Oglethorpe, on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Parkside Nursing Center.
Mrs. Dickens was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Ooltewah and taught the Beginners Sunday school class for many years at Park City Baptist, United Baptist, and Battlefield Baptist Churches. He favorite scripture was Philippians 1:21, “for to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harry Dickens, brother, H.S. “Bob” Dover, and son-in-law, Jim Abernathy.
Survivors include her son, Thomas (Sharon) Dickens; daughters, Angeline Abernathy, Joy (Matt) Blakely, and Jane (Neil) Carden; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend James Langston officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
