Jack Davis, 87, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Thursday, September 29, 2016 after a long illness with dementia.

A native of Clinton, Tn., Jack graduated from Clinton High School in 1949, served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict, and moved his family to Chattanooga in 1965.

He was employed by the Greyhound Bus Company and the Tennessee Highway Department of Transportation.  He was a member of the Brainerd United Methodist Church and the Alhambra Shriners.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Avent Davis;  his parents, Elmer and Cassie Duncan Davis; four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors are his son, David J. Davis and wife, Belvely; Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Colton Davis and Kaitlyn  Davis;  two step-grandchildren, Jonathan Dey and Chandler Dey.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at Brainerd United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends in the McFerrin Chapel from 1-2 p.m.
