United Way's Center For Nonprofits Hosts Free Workshop On Impact Of New Rules For Overtime

  • Friday, September 30, 2016

United Way’s Center for Nonprofits invites the public to attend a free workshop for nonprofit organizations on Friday, Oct. 7, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in its offices at 630 Market Street in downtown Chattanooga. Attendees should feel free to bring their own lunch and beverages will be provided.

Facilitator Attorney Rosemarie Hill, a shareholder and Section Chair of the Labor and Employment Section at Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C., will give expert guidance on the new rule’s impact and what one can do to ensure compliance as a nonprofit leader.

This workshop will explore the questions: Which employees are exempt or non-exempt from overtime under the FLSA? What are the penalties for misclassifications? What does it mean to be exempt or non-exempt from overtime? What's all this about the "new overtime rules? Are they already in effect, will they really cost employers millions upon millions of dollars, and what do we do to make sure we are in compliance with them?

This special event is provided free of charge to the community's nonprofits, thanks to the generosity of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, in partnership with United Way of Greater Chattanooga, the Center for Nonprofits and the law firm of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel.
