Robert Dean “Bob” Palmer
Robert Dean “Bob” Palmer, Sr., 88, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at a local hospice facility.
He was born March 2, 1928 in Piedmont, Al. He served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, as they mobilized his National Guard Unit during the Korean War.
He was a graduate of Jacksonville State College with a degree in accounting. He worked for Chattanooga Glass in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He then went to work at some carpet places in Ellijay, Georgia and in Rome, Georgia. In 1975 he came back to Chattanooga and opened Complete Bookkeeping Service, where he retired just a few years ago.
Mr. Palmer had Choo Choo Kennels for years and also raised and showed pigeons. He had a love for horses and enjoyed watching the Vols play football.
Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Wright Palmer, brother, James Palmer, and son, Perry Palmer.
Survivors include his children, Suzanne Johnson, Bobby (Deborah) Palmer, Greg Palmer, and Mark Palmer; grandchildren, Jeff Collins, Kristy Collins, Brandon Palmer and Cameron Palmer; great-grandchildren, Darren Gilreath, Stephen Coleman, II, and Noah Collins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday.
