Dr.
Franklin Green, descended from two signers of the Declaration of Independence, was a respected dentist in the north Georgia and Chattanooga area for many years. In retirement, he donated his services in Haiti, Brazil, and at the Chattanooga Hamilton County Health Department for AIDS/HIV patients. He also purchased and restored the historic Gordon-Lee Mansion in Chickamauga and continued to live on the property until his death. A man of many interests, he also served on the boards of numerous area community service and arts organizations, trusts for historic preservation, and other societies. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church and a well-known Episcopalian in the East Tennessee diocese.
