The employees of Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services wore pink shirts as part of the official HCEMS uniform during the month of October for the second Annual Awareness campaign recognizing breast cancer awareness and celebrating the life of local television personality MaryEllen Locher, who fought the disease until her death 11 years ago and brought awareness of breast cancer to the forefront in the Hamilton County community.
“We wanted to continue our campaign to promote awareness of the disease in our community, the efforts being made to help find a cure, and to continue to support breast cancer survivors and their families, Last year's campaign was a huge success and I am very pleased with the support and involvement of Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services personnel this year.” stated HCEMS Deputy Chief John Combes.
HCEMS staff and Hamilton County employees supported the cause by purchasing and wearing the shirts during this second campaign.
From the sale of the shirts this year, HCEMS donated $5,755 to the MaryEllen Locher Cancer to further assist those with breast cancer and their families and to help in the efforts of finding a cure for this disease.
“It is our goal to provide quality emergency medical care for our community,” said Deputy Chief Combes. “This month-long awareness campaign is an effort of our employees to continue to set the standard of care in our area and provide service and assistance to those in need.”
