Rep. Andy Holt said that commercials touting the Tennessee Lottery are "targeted to Tennessee’s most economically disadvantaged, are increasingly predatory, disgusting, and out of hand."
If that is true of the advertisements, what does it say about the product -- what does it say about the lottery itself?
Realistically, it says the lottery is targeted to Tennessee’s most economically disadvantaged, is increasingly predatory, is disgusting, and is out of hand.
But it's also quite profitable to the government of the State of Tennessee, so we all know there's no use arguing against it. Those arguments were all made long ago anyway, to no avail.
And, of course, we all know that if local folks couldn't gamble in Tennessee, they'd just cross the state line and give all that money to Georgia, which can't be allowed to happen.
So Mr. Holt is obviously wasting his time, just whistling in the wind.
