Marian Charlotte Smith, 86, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on January 13, 2017.

She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Dalton. Marian enjoyed reading and watching western movies. She was a loving wife, mother and friend that will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Eugene Smith; parents, Robert and Pauline Burns; son, Johnny Smith; brothers, Robert Burns and Roland Burns. 

She is survived by her son, Dennis Smith of Dalton; daughter, Peggy Gower of Springfield, TN; sisters, Bobbie Crain of Falling Water, TN, and Barbara Sue Turner of Hixson; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 15, from 3-8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Neil Hasty and Reverend Walter Hair officiating. A Committal Service will follow burial after service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
