Anne Shipley
Anne Shipley

Anne Shipley, 80, of Ooltewah, was born a Kosky on January 23, 1936. A soft, strong, sincere soul.  Part peacemaker, all parent, and always the proudest in the room of the accomplishments of the four children she has guided through life.

Anne was predeceased by her husband, William B. “Toddy” Shipley.

A calming influence of every situation, Anne was the voice of reason at every holiday family dinner. A cool head among the strong-willed clan that gathered in the kitchen and around the Christmas tree.

A mother to her four biological children, and many more, who found refuge in their Savannah Bay lake house. What great meals and legendary German Chocolate Cake and cornbread dressing Anne was known for.

A lifetime supporter of the Ooltewah High School Band Boosters, a gardener, seamstress, and one of Santa’s finest assemblers of Christmas treasures.  Anne was talented in many areas.

An early Christmas gift in 2015 became a Christmas jewel when DNA testing revealed an unknown half brother, Wallace Berg of New Hampshire, who in his 92nd year found the sister he never knew he had.  Anne and Wallace met in September 2016.

Anne loved to read and would monthly read four-eight books.  She had a vibrant vocabulary that allowed her to complete crossword puzzles in record time.

Anne will be greatly missed by her children, Kimberly Harwood, Julie Chamberlain (Scott Chase), Jeffrey Shipley, and Dale Shipley who provided help so she could stay in the home she loved. Her grandchildren Tanner and Mason gave her a new lease on life.  She also loved her pets. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family will have a private gathering at a later date to celebrate Anne’s life.

Arrangements are by Covenant Funeral & Crematory; Crox family owned and operated, www.CovenantFuneral.com.
