Ooltewah Woman Charged With Stealing Items From Cars, Firing Shots At Homeowner Who Confronted Her

A 27-year-old Ooltewah woman has been charged with stealing items from cars on Maplewood Drive, then firing two shots at a homeowner who confronted her.

Morgan Lyndsey Shoemaker, of 5204 Village Garden Dr., Ooltewah, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, four counts of burglary, two counts of theft of property and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.

In the incident early Thursday morning, police were dispatched in regard to a disturbance on Maplewood Drive. An officer spotted Ms. Shoemaker walking along the road carrying several bags. She claimed that a man named "KP" had shot at her.

She was taken back to Maplewood Drive, where several residents said their cars had been broken into. They also reported hearing two shots fired.

One man said a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver had been stolen out of his truck.

One resident said at 5:45 a.m. he had seen a woman with pink hair in his driveway. He said he chased the woman across the street, then she fired a shot at him. He said she fired again as he continued to pursue her.

Police found some of the stolen property near the house of the man who was shot at, including the Smith and Wesson handgun.
