Mocs Tennis Team Falls To No. 6 North Carolina 6-0

  • Sunday, January 22, 2017
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team dropped a 6-0 match at No. 9 North Carolina today.  The Tar Heels (4-0) swept all of the action as the Mocs dropped to 0-2 against a tough schedule.

"I want to congratulate Coach Paul and his Tar Heels on their impressive victory," stated UTC head coach Carlos Garcia.  "They make you work for every point and which is something we needed to experience and hopefully we can implement some adjustments in this week's practice."

According to Garcia, the highlights of today's match were at #2 and #5 players.
Freshman Niklas Gerdes played very high level tennis against a top recruit in the nation and freshman Mox Grobbelaar made his debut and played extremely well.

"These guys were right there in their matches, for which I am extremely proud of their performance," said Garcia.

The Mocs open the home portion of their spring schedule nest weekend.  UTC hosts Austin Peay on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 6:00 p.m. at McCallie's Strang-Voges Tennis Center.  The Mocs also take on Belmont on Sunday at Noon at McCallie.

Links for live scoring for both matches are available on the men's tennis schedule.
