Lura “Bea” Owens, 94, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017.

Bea was born and raised in Overton County, Tn. She was retired as a seamstress from Big Horn Saddlery then worked at Target until 2009. She was a long-time member of East Ridge Baptist Church and a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church since 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ova McDonald; daughter, Connie Poe; brother, Norton McDonald; sisters, Marie Jenkins and Louise Hall; granddaughter, Cynthia McGaughey; and grandson, Mac Poe.

Surviving are her daughters, Pat (Larry) McGaughey of East Ridge and Barbara Creswell of Soddy Daisy; sister, Panny Moore of Cookeville, TN; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday and 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, at Lakewood Memory Gardens South Mausoleum with her grandson, Reverend Chad Poe officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37412.
