Chambliss Center For Children Elects 4 New Members To Board Of Directors

Local nonprofit Chambliss Center for Children elected Cam Born, Teddi Mendel, Jim Miller, and Cindy Wilkerson as four new members at their January meeting to serve on the agency’s board of directors. 
 
“Year after year I am amazed at the level of talent we have within our board,” said Phil Acord, president/CEO of Chambliss Center for Children. “We have tremendous leadership in place, and are grateful for the passion, professionalism, and insight these new members will bring to our agency.”
 
Ms.
Born is an executive diabetes specialist with Novo Nordisk. Since 2011, she has been a member of the board of directors for On Point, where she serves as board chairman. She also serves on multiple committees at Normal Park Museum Magnet School,where three of her four boys attend school.  She and her husband Brandon served as the chairmen for Chambliss Center for Children’s Bunny Hop! event in 2014 and 2015. 
 
Ms. Mendel is a retired Hamilton County educator. She taught for many years at Sunnyside Elementary School (current site of Signal Centers) directly across the street from Chambliss Center for Children. She serves as an adjunct professor in residence for UTC, and is active in several professional organizations related to Early Childhood Education. Ms. Mendel served as a board member of Volunteer Community School, a community childcare center managed by Chambliss Center for Children.  
 
Mr. Miller is vice president of Southern Champion Tray. He has volunteered with several agencies throughout the past 36 years. Mr. Miller is a returning board member. He previously served on Chambliss Center for Children’s board from 1989 to 2000, his last year as board chairman.
 
Ms. Wilkerson is a retired educator with the Hamilton County School System. She grew up in the Brainerd area and attended school with children from the Children’s Home, the name of the agency at the time. Throughout the years, she has volunteered with the agency for special projects on campus, including Easter egg hunts with Junior League and decorating for the holidays with the Garden Club of Signal Mountain. 
 
In addition to the election of these four new members, Chambliss Center for Children’s board of directors also elected new officers. Paul Fitzgerald with Northwestern Mutual will serve a two-year term as chairman; Ross Schram with Baker Donelson was elected as vice chairman; Hugh Brown with Pendleton Square will serve as treasurer; Kelly Lopez with Schnellecke Logistics was elected to the assistant treasurer’s position; Anne-Marie Spencer with PlayCore will serve as secretary; and Catharine Bahner Daniels, owner of Plum Nelly, will serve as past chairwoman. 
 
"Chambliss Center for Children offers thanks to the following dedicated members who recently rolled off the board of directors: John Coffelt, Lauren Hunt, Paul Jacobs, Jr., Michael Jobe, Leigh Ann Yates, and Chris Young," officials said.
