Miller & Martin Admits Elkins And Shepard As New Members

Miller & Martin PLLC announces the admission of Douglas Elkins and Elisabeth Shepard as members effective Jan, 1. 

Douglas (Doug) Elkins, based in the firm’s Chattanooga office, is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department. Mr. Elkins focuses his practice in the area of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, securities and general business representation. His practice largely surrounds international and domestic merger and acquisition transactions and private equity, including representation of strategic acquirers, sellers, private equity funds and management funds. He also has been involved in a number of acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, syndications and other transactional matters in the healthcare industry.

Mr. Elkins graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law and received his undergraduate degree in History from Davidson College.

Elisabeth (Lis) Shepard is a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and is based in the firm’s Atlanta office. Ms. Shepard's combination of legal experience allows her to provide counsel to her clients in order to collaboratively build their businesses. She practices in the areas of intellectual property/technology law, corporate law, franchise/distribution law and labor and employment law. Ms. Shepard also is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

Ms. Shepard graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Emory University. She has earned accolades for her practice including selection to Georgia Trend magazine’s 2016 Legal Elite and the Georgia Super Lawyers 2015-2016 Rising Stars lists. 

Both Ms. Shepard and Mr. Elkins are active in numerous civic and professional organizations, including the Atlanta Bar Association and Chattanooga Bar Association, respectively. Their involvement includes leadership roles on several committees.
