Contractor To Implement Traffic Shift On East Brainerd Road And Temporary Closure Of Portion Of Morris Hill Road

  • Thursday, October 12, 2017

As part of the SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) widening project from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road, the contractor will implement a traffic shift followed by the closure of a portion of Morris Hill Road that will last approximately one week.

On Friday, the contractor will perform a traffic shift on East Brainerd Road at the intersection of Hurricane Creek Road and Morris Hill Road. The traffic shift will begin at approximately 9 a.m. on Friday. The result of the traffic shift will be one lane in either direction on East Brainerd Road through the intersection.

Once the traffic is shifted, the contractor will begin excavating the area to the left of the center of East Brainerd Road from Morris Hill Road toward Fuller Road.  This will require the closure of the portion of Morris Hill Road from East Brainerd Road extending approximately 300 feet north. The contractor is scheduled to have Morris Hill Road excavated and built back up to base stone by Wednesday Oct. 18, after which time the paving subcontractor will begin work. The contractor intends to have Morris Hill Road back open to traffic on Friday, Oct. 20.

During the closure of this portion of Morris Hill Road, traffic will be detoured using Banks Road to Igou Gap Road and back onto Morris Hill Road. The contractor will use their changeable message signs on either end of the project to inform traffic of the closure and construction signs will be used to mark the detour route. Drivers are encouraged to obey the signage and pay close attention to changing conditions in the work zone.
