8th Annual ‘Kickin’ It For Kids With Cancer’ Fundraising Event Is Next Week

  • Thursday, October 12, 2017
The eighth annual “Kickin’ It For Kids With Cancer” returns next week to Lee University in Cleveland, with a two-part fundraising effort to benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.

This initiative results from a renewed partnership between the foundation and the nationally renowned Lee University women’s soccer program, which has four NAIA national championships and had made the NCAA Tournament field the last two seasons. This year marks the eighth consecutive year for the “Kickin’ It” initiative.

On Tuesday, there will be a “Family Dinner” from 6-8 p.m.
with the Lady Flames team and coaches at the Austin Hatcher Foundation’s new Education Advancement Center (EAC) in downtown Chattanooga. On Friday there will be a special Kickin’ It For Kids With Cancer game at 7 p.m. game against the University of Alabama in Huntsville at the Lee Soccer Field.

“Given the quality of the Lady Flames program, every one of their games is special,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “We are proud to have Kickin’ It as a longtime initiative with a local partner, exactly the sort of thing that has helped us build the foundation from the ground up.”

Funds to benefit the foundation are being raised through sponsorships, donations and the sale of Kickin’ It For Kids With Cancer T-shirts ($10). To inquire about sponsorship opportunities or to RSVP for either the Family Dinner or the Kickin' It game, email hhhinfo@hatcherfoundation.org or call 423-243-3471 with all the names of those attending, an email address, and T-shirt size for each individual.

Throughout 2017, the Austin Hatcher Foundation is commemorating its first decade of operation. As part of the commemoration, the foundation has benefited from its “Five for Ten” major gift campaign. The “Five for Ten” campaign has focused on “Building a Foundation For The Future” which has included the acquisition and furnishing of the EAC, and helping to continue and expand programs to benefit those dealing with pediatric cancer and the effects it leaves behind.
