Christian Academy of Knoxville walked away with the win over Notre Dame Saturday night although they never scored from the field.

The Lady Warriors only goals came on penalty kicks.

The two teams battled hard for the first half without either team scoring until the last fifteen seconds of the period when Notre Dame's Maddie Eagle found the back corner of the net on a 15-yard strike.

The second half was much like the first, with neither team able to finish the ball. Both teams had opportunities and both keepers made several stops, but the ball never found the net for either team until late in the half.

With just under three minutes remaining, CAK scored on a penalty kick after a handball in the box.

Notre Dame stepped up their effort in the final few minutes with an offensive push, but the period ended with a tied score, 1-1.

The two teams then fought through two 10-minute overtime periods, and two 5-minute golden goal periods without a goal.

In penalty kicks, Notre Dame started off with the two teams alternating shots. The first three shots were no good. CAK snuck their second shot just inside the post. Neither team scored on the following two shots, but the next three all found the net. With the score tied, CAK made their final shot for the win.

With the win, the Lady Warriors improve their record to 14-6 and will advance to face Chattanooga Christian school Monday night in the DII-A East Region Championship game.

Notre Dame is now 7-7-2 and will face Grace Christian Academy of Knoxville in the Region consolation game.

CCS 5 Knoxville Grace 1

The Lady Chargers claimed a 5-1 win over Grace Christian Academy Saturday night.

The score at the half was 4-0 with CCS goals from Addie Henry, Lillie Cate, Anslee McGlocklin, Sarah O'Shea, and Laura Beth Turner. Assists were made by Olivia Hofman, O'Shea, and Turner.

In the second half, the Lady Chargers gave up their first goal in 10 matches when they were called for a foul in the box. Grace capitalized on the opportunity, scoring on a PK in the middle of the second half.

CCS's defense, powered by Emily Huesman, Kate Dirkse, Ellie Montgomery and Katie Davick, held them scoreless from the field.

The Lady Chargers finished their scoring with a goal from Hoffman assisted by O'Shea.

Keepers Lucy Sandhoff and Emily Jipping combined for 10 saves.

The Lady Chargers out-shot the Rams 23-10 and took five corner kicks to Grace's two.

CCS's record is now 18-1-2 and Grace Christian is 14-6.

CCS will face Christian Academy of Knoxville in the championship match on Monday. The two teams faced each other earlier in the season when CCS came out on top 3-1. The winner of that game will claim the region title and a bye in the first round of the state tournament.

Monday's championship game will be played at CCS at 6:30 p.m. following the consolation match at 4:30 p.m.

All four teams will advance.
