Trump - And Response

  • Tuesday, October 17, 2017
Hardly a day, even a moment, goes by when some news flash appears sharing what Trump said or did. Not catchy and cute as we might feel when we see the baby turn over for the first time or say Da, da. Instead, this grown man and our president defies child cooing and smiling and instead frowns amid growing anger that we voted for this man, a grown up not quite potty-trained.

I am dismayed and that covers up for me the real words I would rather use describing what is happening in our country.
First we have a president that is not sure one of his utterances will be blast along the air waves or the one a few minutes later obscuring what he said just moments before. All this unease in the country affects nations all over the world listening to one remark, some stupid, some evil and all hurtful by our president.

The Congress of the country consists now of factions - silos they call them. I worked on a family dairy farm and often was part of that job of tamping down corn silage in the silo as it was being filled for winter feed for the cows. If Ray was just above me  moving the corn coming in I could yell at him. If he was not I could yell and wait. That is what our legislative bodies, both of them, are. Consensus is a word used for where to eat lunch. Consensus for what ails the country puts our elected folk back in their silos trying to get someone to listen. Peril might be a new word to toss about for the future of this country. I am not feeling real good about the direction we are heading.

Scott Pruitt envisions a return of Ford Model A and assembly line productions. Scott Pruitt is for opening up coal mines to  mining and jobs and yet the power industry is moving to renewables like wind, solar, natural gas closing down coal plants all over the country but Pruitt insists and with our president's blessings that Henry Ford is the new way forward for the U.S.

When anyone Republican or Democrat supporter stoops so low as to compare any President to a child not "potty trained" they not only show disrespect for the office, but their blind hatred and ignorance of the facts.

Lets look at the real facts on this President so far since his election:

 1.  Unemployment at 4.3%, a 16 year low
 2.  1 million new jobs
 3.  Home prices 6.5% higher than a year ago
 4.  Lowest trade deficit since election
 5.  Dow Jones up 12% this year, a 4000 point increase
 6.  S&P companies up more than 10% in one year
 7.  25th RECORD HIGH IN STOCK MARKET SINCE THE ELECTION
 8.  ISIS suffering massive losses and hundreds surrendering on battlefield
 9.  Religious freedoms reinforced
 10. Foreign powers increasing their fair share to United Nations dues payments
 11. Illegal border crossings down over 40 percent

Every four years we decide as a nation to freely elect our President. We can honestly disagree with the direction each new administration takes us, as long as we do it with respect for the office and the process.  Nothing is gained by anyone throwing a temper tantrum in print because one doesn't like the way an election turned out.  Now that is truly an example of a child not yet "potty trained".
