Bantam And Intermediate Champions Crowned On Day 4 Of 2017 Eastern Elite Qualifier

Thursday, October 19, 2017
24 bantam and intermediate champions were crowned at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, during the fourth day of the 2017 Eastern Elite Qualifier and Regional Open Championships.

The noon session was filled with excitement as the young boxers put up hard fought bouts in hopes of taking home the title. The noon session also served as the youth male’s quarterfinals, which did not disappoint the enthusiastic crowd. They will be back in the ring during tomorrow’s semifinals looking to secure their spot in Saturday’s championship bouts.

The evening session once again did not disappoint. With the pressure on for the elite boxers hoping to punch their tickets to the National Championships in Salt Lake City, they gave it their all and left nothing in the ring. Both World Champions in tonight’s session, Marc Castro (Fresno, Calif.) and Delante Johnson (Cleveland, Ohio), continued on to tomorrow’s semifinal bouts. Castro is making his elite debut this week, while Johnson is returning to the ring since his appearance at the 2017 Elite Men’s World Championships in Hamburg, Germany in August. The session also gave the junior division boxers the opportunity to box in the rings beside the elite boxers, as they fought to secure their spots in their finals during tomorrow’s competition.

The remaining boxers in the tournament will all box in tomorrow’s single session beginning at noon. The session will be filled with high intensity with the junior championship bouts, as well as the youth and elite male and female semifinal bouts. The session can be watched on USA Boxing’s free live stream here.

Why Are Joda Thongnopnua And Phil Bredesen Downplaying Their Democratic Values?

For the past several months, the Democratic Party has reached a tipping point. “Their Resistance” is to oppose anything and everything Republicans are doing to deliver a stronger economy and better economic opportunities for all Americans.  Yet, I find it very interesting that the public outcry we are seeing from the Democrats on a national level is nowhere to be found when ... Roy Exum: It’s ‘Tennessee Week’

For over 50 years I have heard the line, “There are two things you must never do on ‘The Third Saturday of October.’ You mustn’t ever marry and try not to die because, in either case, the preacher won’t show up.” He’ll be watching “The Game.” Ever since Oct 18, 1901, Tennessee and Alabama have been going at it and that inaugural game set the tone as well as the standard for all ...
