Covenant Golf Opens Season At Piedmont Fall Invitational

 The Covenant men's golf team opened the fall season on Monday in the first round of the Piedmont Fall Invitational at The Orchard Golf & Country Club. The Scots sit in a tie for 11th place with Millsaps.

Truett-McConnell is the clubhouse leader after posting a team score of 305 in the opening round and host Piedmont is a shot off the lead in second at 318. Covenant scored a 332, along with Millsaps, to finish the round in 11th. Chris Drysdale of Methodist shot a 2-under, 70 to hold the lead heading into Tuesday's final round.

Nathan Hawkins led the Scots with a 79 in his first round.
The sophomore is tied for 22nd overall in the event. Josh Wall and Marshall Kent each carded an 84 on the day. Kent led the team with two birdies, both coming on the back nine. James Mitchell carded a birdie on his first hole and posted an 85 in his collegiate debut.

The second and final round of the tournament will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at The Orchard Golf & Country Club. To follow live results during the day, click here
