Moc Golfers In Action This Weekend

  • Friday, October 20, 2017
-It’s been a little while since the Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team saw a competitive round. A month to be exact with the cancellation of an event between now and the Lady Paladin Invitational (Sept. 22-24).

As one can imagine, the Mocs are eager to return to the links. The quintet of Cristina Perez, Megan Woods, Monica San Juan, Holly Morgan and Maddy McDanel are in an enviable position with 27 rounds of experience at Turtle Point at the Kiawah Island Resort.

San Juan owns a 73.17 scoring average over her six cards turned in at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.
She tied for 11th (+3, 219) aiding the Mocs charge to a second-place finish in 2015 and tied for eighth (+4, 220) last October.

Perez and Woods have nine rounds apiece on the tract. The duo tied for 23rd in 2015 with solid numbers ending up at 7 over. Morgan’s memories are positive tying for 19th a year ago with a total of 224 (+8). McDanel is the only member of the lineup not to have collegiate experience at Turtle Point.

An 18-team field awaits the Gig City Ladies. SoCon rivals ETSU and Mercer are there along with top 50 program Campbell (48) with a few more, including the Mocs, knocking on the door.

The three-day, 54-hole event begins Sunday, Oct. 22, concluding Tuesday, Oct. 24. Links to live scoring, pairings and notes are above.
