Elvin Clay Housley, 85, of Riceville, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017.
He was born in Fannin County, Ga., and spent the last 46 years in the Claxton Community, and attended the Double Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Housley was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on March 31, 2017; parents, John Henry and Luvenia Goss Housley; one grandson, David Eddington; and 10 siblings.
Mr. Housley is survived by two children, Steven Clay Housley and wife Tammy of Sweetwater; Christal and husband Jeff Eddington of Riceville; grandchildren, Dr. Blake and wife, Amy Housley; Dr. Melissa Housley Reynolds and husband Dr. James Reynolds, Dianna Cavanah and husband Dr. Michael Cavanah, Mark Eddington, Lindsey Housley, Dakota Housley, and Lillie Housley; sister Ivanelle Johnson of Hopkinsville, KY. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. in Fannin County Georgia at the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Herman Jordan officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 22, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel.
