Linda Terrell
Linda “Jonette” Galt Terrell, 78, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
She was a graduate of Girls Preparatory School, Class of 1957, and a continual presence as a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Golden Gateway, for 49 years.
She worked tirelessly providing childcare in the nursery there for 38 years and taught Sunday School for many of those years. God blessed her with an amazing gift for working with children and she found joy in it, even working in the nursery the night before her death.
She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is best known for her greatest attribute, loving others the way Jesus wanted us to, unconditionally. She loved everyone she met, young and old, and was an example of selflessness, helping anyone in need. She epitomized the definition of joy she taught to her children, Jesus first, others second, yourself last!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Nettie Galt.
Jonette is survived by her loving husband, of 59 years, Cordelle Terrell; children, Tina Shoop, Maria Terrell, Joelle (Kenny) Crofford of Vidalia Georgia, and Corey (Laura) Terrell; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Service of Celebration will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church. The service will be followed with a time of fellowship together.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Preschool/Children’s Ministry of First Baptist Church, 401 Gateway Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402.
