Fire officials gave an update on two women who were seriously injured in separate house fires within the past two weeks in Lookout Valley. Both were pulled from their burning homes by firefighters and neighbors, and then transported to burn centers in Austell, Ga., and Nashville.

The woman pulled from her home at 1218 Judys Lane on Sept. 17 is still being treated at the Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell. Her injuries are very serious. No additional information was made available at this time. Charles Vaughn, 72, died in the fire on Judys Lane.

The 44-year-old woman carried from her burning home at 111 Centro St. on Sept.
20 was transported to the burn center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was critically injured as well, but she responded quickly to her treatment and she returned to Chattanooga late last week. Her recovery here will continue, but she no longer needs medical care in the hospital.

The cause of both fires appears to be accidental, though what exactly sparked the two fires remains undetermined.
