Lee's Lanter, Bricker Honored By Gulf Coast Conference

  • Tuesday, October 3, 2017
Lee women's soccer seniors Summer Lanter and McKenzie Bricker have garnered Gulf South Conference Weekly Honors after guiding the Lady Flames to a pair of road victories last weekend.

Lanter was named the GSC Player of the Week as she scored both goals in Lee's 1-0 victories over West Georgia and No. 8 North Alabama.

Lanter wasted little time getting the Lady Flames on the board on Friday as she scored just 2:34 into the match against the Wolves.

On Sunday, Lanter drilled her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 55th minute off an assist from Riley Engels to supply the lone score of the evenly contest match with the Lions.
After winning GSC Player of the Year last year, Lanter is making another strong case for the honor as she is second in the league in goals and leads the GSC with four game-winning goals.

Bricker was a key component in helping the Lady Flames keep two clean sheets this weekend. The Collierville, Tenn. native helped limit West Georgia to just nine shots and kept the high-powered North Alabama club off the scoreboard for the first time all season.

"It's another good honor for Summer and McKenzie to be recognized as players of the week, but collectively it shows how hard the team worked over the weekend to get two good results," said head coach Chris Hennessey.

Lanter, Bricker and the Lady Flames will return home this weekend to face two more top clubs in the league as they welcome Valdosta State to town on Friday at 7 p.m. before entertaining West Florida on Sunday at 2 p.m.
