James Kevin Shipman, 47, of Hixson, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 04, 2017, after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.


Kevin was an avid NASCAR and Alabama fan, and during any free time he enjoyed riding dirt bikes with his son. He had been employed with Titan Heating and Air before his illness.


Kevin gave his life to Jesus and immediately experienced a very real comfort and peace. 


He was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Jo Shipman; grandparents, Harold and Addie Shipman and Elizabeth Guynes. 


Kevin is survived by his father, Jack G. Shipman; children, Hayley (Colton Dobbins) Shipman and Tyler Shipman; grandson, Jayce Dobbins; siblings, Terrie Snyder; Sharon (Ron) Cunningham, and Jack G. “Butch” Shipman, Jr.


The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.


A Celebration of Life service for Kevin will follow at 7 p.m. on Monday, at the North Chapel with Reverend Brad Tucker officiating.  Burial will be private on Tuesday for the family at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.


Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.

George Davis, 52, of Dayton, died on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was born on Sept. 30, 1966, in LaFollette. George was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Parlie Bolton, his father, Eddie Davis and his uncle, John Bolton. Chattanooga Man At Scene Of Carjackings Gets 6-Year Federal Prison Sentence

A Chattanooga man who was at the scene of two carjackings has been sentenced to serve six years in federal prison. Nikolas Milton, 25, appeared before Judge Curtis Collier. Police Arrest Man On Multiple Car Break-Ins At Signal View Apartments

Police said they arrested a man on multiple car break-ins at the Signal View Apartments on Mountain Creek Road. Maurice Flanigan is charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of theft of property.
