Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

I-24 East bridge repair over Chestnut Street at mile marker 178.6 near the U.S. 27 interchange and safety improvements on the bridges over the CSX Railroad and over U.S. 27:  Work on this project continues.  This project will repair the bridge on I 24 East over Chestnut Street at mile marker 178.6 near the U.S. 27 interchange.  The project will also make safety improvements on two other bridges in the same area, one over the CSX Railroad and one over U.S. 27.  In addition to making major bridge deck repairs to the bridge over Chestnut Street, this project includes the installation of high-friction surface treatment on all of the bridge decks.  During the project, the bridge on I-24 East will be completely closed to traffic and a detour using the Lookout Mtn./Broad St. ramp (Exit 178) will be used to move traffic around the work zone and allow it to continue on I-24 East.  All repair operations will be done using a continuous daily operation (7 days per week) until necessary repairs are completed and/or all lanes are open to the free, unrestricted flow of traffic.  Additionally, traffic accessing Lookout Mountain/Broad Street from U.S. 27 South will be detoured until completion of the project.  THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is November.  [Dement Construction Co., LLC/Pruett/CNR031]

U.S. 27 (I-124) widening from I-24/U.S. 27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:  Work on this project continues.  The speed limit on U.S. 27 in the construction zone is 45 MPH.  Recently, as part of Phase 2 of the project, traffic on U.S. 27 was shifted to the outside in both directions to allow the contractor access to the middle portion of U.S. 27 for the next construction phase.  As a result of traffic shifting to the outside, the ramps at MLK Boulevard in both directions and the 4th St. ramp on U.S. 27 South were shortened and originally required traffic to yield when entering U.S. 27.  The yield signs have now been changed to stop signs because of the increase in traffic crashes in the work zone.  All traffic must stop at the following locations before entering onto U.S. 27:  4th St. ramp onto U.S. 27 South, westbound MLK Boulevard ramp onto U.S. 27 South, eastbound MLK Boulevard ramp onto U.S. 27 South and eastbound MLK Boulevard ramp onto U.S. 27 North.  Drivers are encouraged to obey the signage and pay close attention to changing conditions in the work zone.  There will be increased law enforcement presence within the project limits.  The contractor may have temporary lane or shoulder closures on U.S. 27 between 7 p.m.-6 a.m.  At least one lane will remain open in each direction on U.S. 27.  THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is July 2019.  For more info, visit the project website http://www.tn.gov/tdot/topic/US27-reconstruction-chattanooga.  [Dement Construction Co., LLC/JM/CNP230]

SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:  Work on this project continues.  During this report period, the contractor may have intermittent lane closures between 9 a.m.-2 p.m.  This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road.  The contractor is scheduled to perform a traffic shift on East Brainerd Road at the intersection of Hurricane Creek Road and Morris Hill Road on Wednesday.  The result will be one lane in either direction on East Brainerd Road through the intersection.  The contractor will begin excavation left (north) of center from Morris Hill Road toward Fuller Road.  On Monday October 16, 2017 the contractor will close Morris Hill Road from East Brainerd Road extending approximately 300 feet north.  The contractor plans to have Morris Hill Road excavated and built back up to base stone by Wednesday, Oct. 18, at which time the paving subcontractor will begin work.  The contractor intends to have Morris Hill Road back open to traffic on Friday, Oct. 20.  This phase of work should be complete and Morris Hill Road reopened in time to accommodate Sunday traffic at Christ United Methodist Church.  During the closure of this portion of Morris Hill Road, traffic will be detoured using Banks Road to Igou Gap Road and back onto Morris Hill Road.  The contractor will use its changeable message signs on either end of the project to inform traffic of the closure and construction signs will be used to mark the detour route.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.
