Electrical Engineer Retired From TVA After 38 Years

Lawrence “Larry” B. Miller, 96, of Hixson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

Larry was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area.  He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.  Larry earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech.  He retired from TVA after 38 years of service.  Larry was a longtime Sunday School teacher, and deacon at First Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy.  He also was very active in the mission fields at his church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ferree Miller; son, Lawrence Michael Miller; grandchildren, Renee Allen and Randolph F. Miller II.

Lawrence is survived by his two sons, Randy (J. Lynn) Miller, and Steven (Katie) Miller; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Larry will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, at National Cemetery with Reverend Seton Tomyn officiating.  The family will meet at the North Chapel on Friday at 9 am and go in a procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Frist Baptist Church of Soddy Daisy, 10185 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn.
