Thursday, November 16, 2017

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

I-24 East bridge repair over Chestnut Street at mile marker 178.6 near the U.S. 27 interchange and safety improvements on the bridges over the CSX Railroad and over U.S. 27:  Work on this project is completed pending final inspection.  Estimated project completion date is November.  [Dement Construction Co., LLC/Pruett/CNR031]

U.S. 27 (I-124) widening from I-24/U.S. 27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:  Work on this project continues.  The speed limit on U.S. 27 in the construction zone is 45 MPH.  Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 .am.  At least one lane will remain open in each direction on U.S. 27.  THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is July 2019.  [Dement Construction Co., LLC/JM/CNP230]

SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:  Work on this project continues.  During this report period, the contractor may have intermittent lane closures between 9 a.m.-2 p.m.  This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road.  Because the contractor needs to access the left side of the road to work on the next phase of the project, he recently performed a traffic shift on East Brainerd Road from Fuller Road to end of project past Banks Road.  Traffic is currently traveling on the newly-paved section from Fuller Road to the end of project.  Banks Road traffic will access the new section by traveling West on the existing pavement and entering the new section of roadway at Everett Drive.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018. [Jones Brothers Contractors, LLC /Pruett/CNN383]

SR-153/SR-319 (Hixson Pike) bridge repair on Hixson Pike over SR-153:  Work on this project continues.  The bridge is slated to be fully open to traffic by Wednesday in anticipation of the Thanksgiving holiday shopping period.  It will stay this way until after the first of the year, and if there are any lane closures needed to finish up the project, they will be temporary and not happen until next year after the holidays.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018. U.S. 11 (SR-2/Brainerd Road) resurfacing from McCallie Tunnel (LM 11.83) to east of Moore Road (LM 13.85):  Work on this project is complete pending final inspection.  Estimated project completion date is November. [Talley Construction/Pruett/CNR218]
