Virginia Roberson
Virginia Layvett Roberson went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2017.
She graduated from Howard High School in the class of 1934 and attended Tennessee State University. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of East Eighth Street since 1932, serving on the Usher Board and the Ladies Guild. She retired from the Chattanooga Public School System.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roberson; parents, Roy and Addie Layvett; sons, John, Virgil, and Kenneth (Janice) Roberson; and grandson, Jason.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Roy Roberson of Middletown, CT; four grandsons, Virgil, Jr. (Donna) Roberson, Colliersville, TN, Brian, Sr. (Shannon) Roberson of Smyrna, TN, Justin and Jeremy Roberson of Atlanta, GA; one great-granddaughter, Lauryn Roberson of Jackson MS; three great- grandsons, Brian, Jr., Tyler Roberson of Smyrna, TN, and Nicholas Roberson of Colliersville, TN; her cherished daughter-in-law, Marion Roberson of Chattanooga, TN; one niece, Tasha Cunningham; nephews, Michael (Brenda), Malcolm and Malik Cunningham; several cousins and many friends.
The body will lie in state after noon on Monday, Nov. 20, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at First Baptist Church of East Eighth Street with Reverend William Terry Ladd, III officiating.
Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
