Homer Hodge
Homer T. Hodge, 89, formerly of Sale Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 17, 2017, in Arab, Alabama.
Homer was born in Sale Creek, Tn., to the late Milburn and Ruby Green Hodge. He retired from TVA after 27 years of service. Homer worked most of his life, with his family in the logging and sawmill business.
Homer was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia Jo Scott Hodge; brothers, Edward Green, Eugene Hodge, Jesse Hodge, Fred Hodge, and Luther Hodge; sister, Beulah Moore, and Frances Varner.
Homer is survived by his children, Jan (Tom) Bruce, Sr. of Sale Creek, Shelia (David) Long of Chesnee, SC and April (Dan) Osborn of Arab, AL; grandchildren, Tammy Alazzam, Tommy Bruce, Jr., Jeremy Long, Jennifer Long, Clint Smith and Lauren Smith Tipton; ten great grandchildren; brother, Arthur Hodge; sister, Mildred “Tee Tot” Hodge; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, and 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, at Sale Creek Church of God, 14919 Dayton Pike, in Sale Creek, Tn. 37373.
A Celebration of Homer’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Sale Creek Church of God with Pastor Terry Bolton officiating. Burial will follow in Welsh-Rogers Cemetery.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville, Al., for the love and care given to Homer.
